INSPIRATION
Kingston's PTA Reflection Committee is looking forward to enthusiastic responses to this year's Reflections Art contest. Although the work must be done by the student, it's so helpful to talk with them about the theme to get their ideas going. Here are some good starter questions:
I MATTER BECAUSE:
How are you playing a positive role in the lives of people around you?
How are you a "helper?"
What great dreams and plans do you have for the near and far future?
How are you changing the world for the better?
You are amazing because you are YOU! Who are you? How will your artwork show that?
Can you make a portrait, short story, video essay or dance about someone (other than you) who you think "Matters?"
Are there groups of people who are making a difference in this world who you believe need more attention because they "Matter?"
There are social politics surrounding the ideas of who matters. Parents, if you feel comfortable discussing these issues with your child this theme could certainly become a meaningful and rich lesson!
